MEET JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Timer: Report 30 minutes before start of
meet. Attend timers meeting 15 minutes before start of
meet. Operate manual timing systems, record times. End
will be assigned. Work session ends after the last heat of
that session of the meet. SIGN IN at the
timers meeting.
Head
Timer: Arrive 30
minutes before meet start. Test watches, assemble
timer’s sheets and clipboards, conduct timer’s meeting,
supervise and train timers, serve as back-up timer. Gather all
timer’s sheets/ watches and return them to the meet office
after the last heat of that session of the meet. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Hospitality: Report 30 minutes before warm-ups, under the
bleachers at the hospitality room. Prepare meals and snacks
for officials and coaches. Provide drinks for timers during
meet. Set-up and clean-up of food and hospitality room.
Session is over when the meet is over and everything is cleaned up
and put away (usually at meet end).
Admissions: Report 30 minutes before warm-ups.
Sell heat sheets, collect admission fees, distribute
programs. Register visiting coaches. 1 hour after meet
start, report to meet director to fill in as timer or concessions
help.
Clerk
of Course: Report 30 minutes before warm-ups.
Oversee swimmer sign-in, relay entries, scratches and deck
entries. Experience is
required.
8&Under Staging: Report to Clerk of Course (in
lobby) 30 minutes before start of meet. Supervise and
organize swimmers into appropriate heats, lead to starting
blocks.
Data
Board: Report 45
minutes before meet start. Set-up, test and operate timing
console. EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED.
Data
Board-Runner: Report 30 minutes before meet start.
Pick up print-outs from databoard and time slips from timers.
Deliver to computer room.
Data
Board Trainee: Report 45 minutes before start of
meet. Learn to set-up, test and operate timing console.
Also serves as runner as needed
Entries: Prior to meet - receive all entries, enter
into meet manager software, finalize entries and provide to Head
coach, Competition Chair and Meet Directors. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Computer Operator: Work
session runs from start of warm-ups until all events have been
entered and recorded along with meet packet compilation. Set-up and operate meet computers and
scoreboard. Knowledge of Meet Manager software REQUIRED.
Attention to detail is critical. SIGN IN at the meet
office. EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED.
Computer Assistant: Work
session runs from start of warm-ups until all events results have
been posted. Assist computer operators: pick-up
print-outs from databoard, get watch times and information from
officials on deck, post results. No computer experience
required. SIGN IN at the meet
office.
Computer Trainee: Work
session runs from start of warm-ups until all events have been
entered and recorded along with meet packet compilation.
Learn how to run the meet
computers. Intermediate computer knowledge and attention to detail
required. This position is only for people who want to
learn to run the meet computers and become a computer operatior in
the future. SIGN IN at the meet
office.
Awards: Obtain event results and prepare ribbons and
medals. Sort awards by team. File Marlin
awards. Workers will report to the meet director 30 min.
after the start of the meet and will stay 30 min. after the final
event of their assigned session to ensure that all standings have
been posted and awards have been issued. SIGN IN at the
meet office.
Announcer: Report 15 minutes before warm-ups.
Announce events, heats, results and meet information.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
Announcer Trainee: Report to announcer table 15 minutes
before start of warm-ups. Session ends when
meet is over.
Concessions: Report to Concessions at start of
warm-ups. Prepare and serve food and drinks in concession
stand. Set-up and clean-up. SIGN IN at
concessions.
Concessions-Cash Register:
Report at start of
warm-ups. Operate concession stand cash register.
Assist with food and drink service. SIGN IN at
concessions.
Scratch Table: Remove swimmers from finals swims.
Please report to scratch table 15 minutes before the start of the
meet. Must stay until 30 minutes after the end of the
last non-timed final event. SIGN IN at the
meet office.
Scratch Table Trainee: Learn how to scratch swimmers from
finals. Please report to scratch table on balcony 15 minutes
prior to the start of the meet. Must stay until 30 minutes
after the end of the last non-timed final event.
SIGN IN at the meet
office.
Maintenance/Clean Up: Report to meet director at meet
start. Facility clean-up and replenishment during meet.
Trash removal, place items in Lost & Found after session
concludes. SIGN IN at the meet
office.
Official: Report at start of warm-ups. Officiate
starts and turns, referee meet, start heats. Requires prior
certification. SIGN IN at the officials
meeting.
Meet
Director: Report
30 minutes before warm-ups. Supervises all meet activities
and ensures USA Swimming rules are followed. Coordinates with
coaches and officials. EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
Meet
Manager: Oversees meet planning and
preparation. Ensures that all departments are prepared for
meet. EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
Worker Sessions: Manage worker sign-ups, ensure
sufficient workers available for meet, report on missed work
sessions. Experience
required.
Heat
Sheets: Print
and assemble heat sheets prior to the meet. For meets with
prelim/final format, print and assemble heat sheets for the Finals
session once the prelim session is complete and athletes are
seeded.
Parking Lot Attendant: On Friday morning must arrive 30
minutes before the start of warm ups and make sure no one parks in
any of the school parking lots.
Marshall
: Provide supervision of swimmers in gymnasium
and lobby.
